Analysis, compliance & takeoff
The Analysis tab is where the Studio tells you what it thinks of your drawing — and where the numbers for buying and building it come from.
| What | Where you'll find it |
|---|---|
| Everything on this page | Side panel → Analysis tab |
| Exports of the same data | Reports menu |
| Performance mode | Display & Defaults → Perf |
Live checking
Analysis runs in the background and never blocks your drawing. Spacing, coverage, obstruction and general lint checks all produce plain-language issues rather than error codes.
On a big job the Studio switches itself to Draft performance mode, which defers the heavier live work. Switch Perf back to Full in Display & Defaults when you want everything current.
The compliance tabs
- Issues — spacing violations, uncovered areas, heads too close to obstructions, heads inside a clearance zone. This is the list to clear before you plot.
- Clashes — where your system runs through other geometry, including imported models.
- Warnings — anything the hydraulic solver is unhappy about.
Quantities and fabrication
- Takeoff — quantities by category, size and material.
- Cut List and Spools — cut lengths with takeouts, spool grouping, and a gap/repair check for fabrication problems.
- Nesting — stock-length nesting with a waste percentage, so you know how many sticks.
- Estimate — labour region, labour rate, markup and unit cost factors.
- Schedule — the device and sprinkler schedule with its symbol legend.
Read the fabrication warnings. A size that is not in the takeout catalog
gets no takeout — a full-length, field-trimmable cut — and says so. A spool whose takeouts exceed the pipe
length is flagged “cannot be fabricated as drawn”. Neither is silently fudged, which is the point.
Getting it out of the program
The Reports menu writes the same information to files:
- Project Summary (HTML) — heads, pipe and systems at a glance.
- Sealed Submittal (HTML).
- Bid Takeoff (CSV + MD).
- NFPA 25 ITM Schedule (CSV + MD) — the inspection, testing and maintenance schedule.
- Cut List / Spool Optimize, Stock Length Nesting Plan, Fabrication Spool Schedule.
Some of these are behind build flags and may not be in your copy yet.
A workflow that keeps you honest
- Lay out heads, then clear Issues while it is only heads — spacing and coverage problems are cheap to fix before pipe exists.
- Route pipe, then clear Clashes.
- Set the remote area and supply, run the hydraulics, clear Warnings.
- Only then generate hangers, bracing and dimensions — they are the parts most expensive to redo.
- Take off quantities last, from a drawing that has already passed the other four.
