LESSON A6

PDF workspace: merge, compress, slip sheets

What you'll learn: the three jobs of the PDF workspace — merging documents, compressing oversized sets, and slip-sheeting revised pages into an existing set.

Video coming soon — the written steps below cover everything.

Merge

  1. Drop PDFs into the workspace in the order you want them combined.
  2. Drag to reorder, then merge to a single file.

Compress

  1. Drop in the oversized set (scanned plan sets are the usual offender).
  2. Pick a compression level and let it re-process. A 100 MB scan set typically comes back email-sized.

Slip sheet — the visual editor

This is for the classic revision chore: the GC sends three revised sheets and you need them in the set, replacing the old versions.

  1. Load the base PDF — every page renders as a preview card.
  2. Load your slip-in sheets — they appear in a tray.
  3. Drag a slip sheet onto a page card to replace that page, or drop it between two cards to insert it.
  4. Clicked the wrong page? Click it again to undo. When the set reads right, export.
Trust your eyes: because pages render as thumbnails, you're matching title blocks visually — no more counting page numbers in two windows and hoping.
