LESSON A11

Hanger details & seismic bracing

What you'll make: a hanger detail drawing ready for your plans, and a seismic brace calculation with the loads and spacing worked out.

Video coming soon — the written steps below cover everything.

Hanger details

  1. Open the Hanger Detail tool.
  2. Pick the pipe size, the ring/hanger hardware, and the structure you're attaching to (wood, steel, concrete deck…).
  3. A clean, dimensioned detail generates — export it as a PNG for the plan sheet or DXF to drop into CAD.

Seismic bracing calculator

  1. Open the Seismic Bracing tool and step through the wizard: brace locations, pipe sizes and weights, seismic coefficient.
  2. It calculates the loads and checks your brace spacing and components, with the zone-of-influence for each brace laid out.
  3. Export the results for the calc package or the AHJ.
Rule of thumb built in: the tools carry the NFPA 13 constraints (like the horizontal-run rules for restraint spacing) so the output you hand a reviewer already respects the sections they'll check.
