Meet Spotter: heads on a plan in 10 minutes

What you'll make: a sprinkler head layout over the job's actual background, with live coverage shading proving every square foot is protected.

What Spotter is

Spotter is the head-placement edition of the SprinkFlow Design Suite — the full desktop CAD platform, focused down to one job: put heads on a plan, correctly and fast. If you can read a reflected ceiling plan, you can run it. It's included with your SprinkFlow subscription (beta rolling out — sign in with your SprinkFlow account).

Step 1 — Bring in the background

  1. Start a new project and import the job's DWG background (or convert a PDF first with lesson A8's tool).
  2. Confirm the drawing scale so distances mean what they say.

Step 2 — Place heads

  1. Pick your sprinkler and its coverage from the setup panel.
  2. Click to place heads. Smart snaps grab ceiling tiles, spacing rhythms, and alignments as you go — fighting the cursor is not part of this workflow.
  3. Watch the coverage shading fill in live behind the heads. Gaps show instantly, before a reviewer finds them.

Step 3 — Check and send

  1. Sweep the plan for unshaded corners and spacing violations.
  2. Save the project file and send it back to the designer or the office.
Who it's for: the field guy who knows where heads go but doesn't live in CAD, the office that wants layout help without another full seat, and the designer who wants the tedious first pass done fast.
